Dear Fellow Educators:

Georgia ASCD is committed to teacher support and building leadership capacity for students, the citizens of tomorrow to have the best educational experiences possible.  Margaret Mead, an anthropologist said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”  This quote has great significance with reference to the education of our children as the united community becomes more engaged in ways to deliver positive change and with the focus on standards and exemplary results.  ASCD has been defining how to learn, teach and lead for sixty-six years, and their products, programs and services are exceptional.  As an affiliate of ASCD, Georgia ASCD agrees with and is committed to the current ASCD positions that include “educating students in a changing world, educating the whole child, health and learning; closing the achievement gap and using multiple measures of assessment.”  Georgia ASCD will continue to build relationships, expand the scope of influence to do good work, and exist as part of the critical mass affecting school culture.  We understand that it is extremely important to promote the ASCD initiatives for the preparation of our children.

As Georgia ASCD plants collaborative seeds of hope, cultivates research-based best practices, and promotes reflective strategies to improve instruction we invite you to join our professional organization and plan to be an active participant.  Georgia ASCD is a small group of thoughtful, committed educators who happen to believe that we can advance teaching, learning and leadership to improve education for all.  We encourage Georgia colleagues to join us in our sincere vision and deliberate mission to achieve the excellence needed to advance to the high quality education our children need for the challenges of the future.

Sincerely,

Beverly A. Smith
