Details of the Program

The One-Year Supervised Practicum is a test-based program and requires passing scores on the GACE Basic Skills Test, GACE Content Assessment, and the GACE Professional Pedagogy Test.

Program Eligibility:

To qualify:

    1. Must have a minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university that supports the field in which the candidate is seeking certification.
    2. Must have a 2.5 GPA or above.
    3. Must have a minimum score on the SAT (1000), ACT (43), or GRE (1030) or pass the GACE Basic Skills Assessment or the PRAXIS I if taken before Sept. 1, 2006.
    4. Must have a passing score on the GACE Content Test or the PRAXIS II if taken before Sept. 1, 2006.
    5. Must have a passing score on the GACE Professional Pedagogy Tests or the PRAXIS Principles of Learning and Teaching Test if taken before Sept. 1, 2006.
    6. Must have a satisfactory criminal background check.
    7. Have a job offer in a Heart of Georgia RESA area school system.

OYSP is a one-year program. The OYSP candidate and/or school system must make arrangements to pay all program fees.
