Sexual Assault Trial Advocacy
March 12-13, 2018 -- 8:30am to 4:30pm
DoubleTree by Hilton Grand Rapids Airport
Join the PAAM VAWP for this FREE, highly interactive, 2-day Sexual Assault Trial Advocacy training. Too often in sexual assault cases, we focus on what the victim did to get into a situation, instead of focusing on what the offender has done. This training is designed to aide prosecutors in better noticing signs of trauma in sexual assault cases, how to use those signs to strengthen the cases, and how to conduct a more offender-focused, victim-centered prosecution. Training is appropriate for any prosecutor or assistant prosecutor who is handling these difficult cases. The following topics will be covered:
- The Neurobiology of Trauma
- Undetected Rapists and Serial Offenders
- Trauma Informed Jury Selection
- Direct Exam of Victim and Cross Exam of
Defendant
- Expert Testimony and Other Acts Evidence
We are providing overnight hotel accommodations on the nights of the March 11th and 12th if you live over 50 miles from the training site. Please be sure to designate whether or not you will need lodging. Meals are not covered at this training, but if you stay at the hotel, breakfast is included with your room.
