HB 232 amends ยง 16-11-129 of the O.C.G.A by requiring that an individual complete a firearms safety training course within the last three years prior to applying for a weapon. The course requirement can be satisfied by proving that one is a peace officer; or serving on active duty or in the active reserves with the armed forces or Georgia National Guardl or is a firearms safety instructor certified by the National Rifle Association; or have received training from a law enforcement officer, a nationally recognized organization that promotes gun safety, or a licensed firearms dealer. |
