Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SB 272 amends an Act that creates a chief judge and a court administrator for the Recorder’s Court of Chatham County. The chief judge is responsible for acting as head of the court, consulting with the court administrator to prepare the annual budget, submitting the annual budget, and advising and consulting with the city manager and county manager in hiring and terminating the court administrator. The court administrator is responsible for hiring, supervising, investigating, and disciplining all employees other than judges, the day-to-day operations of the courts, working with the city and county manager, managing dockets of the court, maintaining management reports, and working with the judges on the budget.
