SUMMARY: LC 39 3510

The bill expands a 2021 statute which allowed the use of vehicles other than school buses to transport students receiving special education services and those who are homeless under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.  This bill removes that restriction allowing local boards of education to authorize the use of other vehicles for transporting any students as long as they comply with all requirements established by the State Board of Education. Local boards may establish additional requirements.  Insurance must be obtained with the amount of the insurance left to the local board.
