SUMMARY:  LC 33 5447ER-ECS Amends eligibility requirements for HOPE grants.

REQUIREMENTS:  

• Defines the Zell Miller Grant Scholar as a student who (among other requirements) has earned a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 at the end of quarter or semester in courses that lead toward a diploma or certificate.
• Provides that a Grant Scholar shall be awarded additionally the difference between the HOPE award and the current year standard undergraduate tuition at the institution where enrolled (or the exceptional tuition rate amount in effect on January 1, 2014)

Subject to the amounts appropriated by the General Assembly and provisions of the Lottery.

EFFECTIVE DATE:  Upon approval by the General Assembly and signature of the Governor.
