SUMMARY:

This resolution urges the Governor to appoint a working group to establish Governor’s Academies to continue his efforts in IE2 that reflect Tough Choices and Tough Times.  The purpose of the academies would be to prove that the cost models created in the IE2 task force work, to demonstrate the effectiveness of school level governance and efficiency and to serve as a teacher/leadership lab in conjunction with a university.  The working group would make recommendations as to the structure of Governor’s Academies, where they should be located, and how to establish partnerships with local boards, community groups, businesses, universities and colleges for each school.
