SUMMARY:

            This bill would amend Code Section 47-4-101 of the O.C.G.A. to increase the allowable benefit from $15 per month of service up to $20 per month of service, contingent upon funding from the General Assembly.  It would apply to those already retired as well as future retirees.  Should the General Assembly intend to increase the benefit but does not allocate enough to fund the full $20, what they do appropriate would be reduced pro rata from the maximum, but would not be less than $14.75 per month of service.  It would become effective July 1, 2010 and would have a sunset date of July 1, 2010 if no funds were allocated.
