HB 245 repeals a statute which required the Department of Public Safety to supply a vehicle to the Warden of the State Prison at Reidsville. This would be more appropriately funded by the Department of Corrections.

This bill received a Do Pass recommendation from the Code Revision Committee and comes to the House Floor under the Open Rule.

Currently the Department of Corrections has written into the code a requirement for the highway patrol to provide the GA State Prison Warden a vehicle,

 

WHAT IS THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND THIS LEGISLATION?

The bill proposes that this be funded by the Dept. of Corrections, not another department.
