House Bill 368
Chair's Name: Richard Royal
Committee: Budget & Fiscal Affairs Oversight
House Sponsor: Doug Collins
HB 368 gives the Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety the power and discretion to sell or trade-in surplus motor vehicles no longer needed by the department and to use the proceeds towards new vehicles for the department. This would bring the department out from under many of the normal provisions relating to the disposition of state property and allow the commissioner and board to implement their own rules and regulations that would take into consideration the unique needs of the department in maintaining public safety vehicles.
This bill received a Do Pass recommendation from the Budget & Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committee and comes to the House Floor under the Open Rule.
