Chairman Willard’s Opinion of the Legislation:

SB 154 proposes to add a new code section to limit cities’ ability to displace a solid waste collection firm from collecting solid waste for commercial customers within the jurisdiction. 12 months or the remaining term of the solid waste contract is the minimum amount of time that the solid waste firm will be able to continue to operate when a local government displaces the solid waste collection firm.

This bill comes to the House Floor under the Open Rule.

Further Action

The House insisted and appointed conferees. The conference committee report, which removed provisions of another bill that had been added as a House Floor amendment, was adopted.
