Senate Bill 213
Chairman:Tom Knox
Committee:Insurance
House Sponsor: John Meadows
Senate Sponsor: David Shafer
Chairman Knox’s Opinion of the Legislation:
This bill allows the Insurance Commissioner to waive assessment of retaliatory taxes on insurance companies seeking to do business in this state. Currently, retaliatory taxes are collected from out-of-state companies whose home state imposes higher fees/taxes on Georgia companies. Making these higher fees/taxes discretionary may encourage greater competition in the industry.
This bill comes to the House Floor under the Open Rule. |
