Chairman McCalls opinion of this legislation:
WHAT PROBLEM/OPPORTUNITY DOES THIS LEGISLATION ADDRESS?
This bill amends Chapter 4 of title 10 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated relating to Warehouseman. It modernizes the process of printing and filing receipts from warehouses. Previously, the code requires that written receipts be printed and stored for warehouse transactions. This law eliminates this burden and allows for receipts to be processed with electronic devices; it modernizes the receipt process for warehouseman.
WHAT IS THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND THIS LEGISLATION?
The burden of printing and keeping warehouse receipts is too burdensome. Electronic devices can process transactions much easier and efficiently.
THIS LEGISLATION:
- Reduces the Size of Government:
Does not force warehouseman to have bonded receipts and bonded approval from the commissioner. The bill retracts the workload on handling warehouse receipts.
