SB 341 directs the Council on Aging to put together a written report entitled “Project 2020: Georgia for a Lifetime”. The report will make recommendations on issues such as state policies regarding state agencies readiness for the expanding aging population and implementation of specific policies, procedures, and programs to respond to the needs and impact of the aging population relating to health, safety, housing, transportation, employment, caregiving, education, legal and financial preparedness, social and recreational resources, and a host of other issues. To assist the Council, they may appoint an advisory committee of up to 17 members, which will serve without compensation other than travel reimbursements.

The report must be delivered to the Governor, Lt. Governor, and Speaker no later than December 15, 2010, with an interim progress report due no later than December 15, 2009. Both reports must be made available to the appropriate legislative committees and state agencies.
