HB 945 allows persons charged with providing notice to owners of towed and impounded vehicles to have direct electronic access to registration records.

Chairman Rice’s opinion of this legislation:

HB 945 will address the problems of drivers, who have their vehicles towed, being able to find their vehicles online without resorting to a 911 call. This legislation is needed to enable the commission of DOR to provide vehicular identification information to selected firms who provide the computer services to link the towing industry with the identity of the owner of the towed vehicle.
