Committee:Public Safety & Homeland Security

House Sponsor: Howard Maxwell

Senate Sponsor: Jack Murphy

This bill makes changes to employment and training standards for Peace Officers. A new subsection would require the executive director of the Peace Officer Standards & Training Council to order the emergency suspension of any peace officer that is arrested or indicted on a felony charge if the director determined the suspension would be in the public’s best interest.  The bill also removes the oral interview requirement for employment as peace officer.

This bill comes to the House Floor under the Open Rule.
