House Bill 1051

Chair's Name: Wendell Willard

Committee: Judiciary Civil

House Sponsor: Wendell Willard

Chairman Willard’s Opinion of the legislation:

HB 1051 streamlines the process of reviewing child fatality data, which will allow Georgia state government to identify and respond to the causes of child fatalities. This bill removes the requirement that each local review committee send their annual report to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees.  Instead, the bill requires the Georgia Child Fatality Review Panel to submit to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees the same annual report that is currently given to the Governor, Lt. Governor, and Speaker of the House, which contains information concerning a number of child fatality issues. The Office of Child Advocate and the Office of Child Fatality Review support the bill.

This bill comes to the Floor under the Modified Structured Rule.
