SB 383 authorizes the Commissioner of Insurance to allow “health reimbursement arrangement only plans” that encourage employer financial support of health insurance to be approved for sale in connection with or packaged with individual health insurance policies.

This bill comes to the House Floor under the Open Rule.

Chairman Knox’s Opinion of the Legislation:

This bill will help address the lack of availability of lower cost healthcare insurance.

This legislation:

  • Reduces Government and Reduces the Tax Burden by helping avoid the demand for government provided health care insurance
  • Strengthens Families by allowing families to provide for their own health insurance
  • Increases Personal Responsibility by allowing individuals to provide their own health care financing

Further Action

The Senate disagreed with the house substitute and the House receded from its position.
