Chairman McCall’s Opinion of the Legislation:

SB 418 creates a new chapter in the code to be known as the “Georgia Fire Safety Standard & Firefighter Protection Act”. The bill prohibits the sale of cigarettes unless the manufacturer certifies to the Safety Fire Commissioner that the cigarettes have been tested by the manufactured and meet certain standards. These tests and standards are described in detail.

This bill comes to the House Floor under the Modified Structured Rule.

The Senate agreed as amended, updating the effective date. The House agreed to the Senate Amendment to the House Substitute.
