HB 1126 allows a downtown development authority to have a director which resides outside the county, so long as that director owns a business within the downtown development area. If the director ceases to own a business within that area, the seat must be relinquished.

This committee substitute comes to the Floor under the Modified Structured Rule.

Further Action

The Senate added two amendments. The first added the requirement that a director of a downtown development authority be a resident of the state of Georgia (line 14 on page 1). The second amendment added the provision that if the director ceases to be a resident of the state of Georgia they must give up their seat (line 16 page 1).
