House Bill 1163

Chair's Name: Wendell Willard

Committee: Judiciary Civil

House Sponsor: Roger Lane

Chairman Willard’s Opinion of the Legislation:

HB 1163 adds a Superior Court judgeship in the Brunswick, Alcovy, and Atlanta judicial circuits. These circuits are at or near the top of the Administrative Office of the Courts’ list of circuits in need of an additional Superior Court Judge.

This bill comes to the House Floor under the Modified Structured Rule.

Further Action

The Senate removed the judgeships in the Atlanta and Brunswick circuits and added a judgeship to the Douglas circuit. Because Atlanta and Brunswick were ranked higher by the Judicial Council, the House agreed as amended by the House restoring the bill to include Brunswick, Atlanta, and Alcovy.
