Secretary Benton’s opinion of this legislation:

HB 1181 gives the State School Superintendent, along with the State Board of Education, the authority to solicit gifts, sell property, and dispose of surplus materials. Also, it increases the maximum amount from $50,000 to $100,000 for  grants and contracts that the Superintendent may authorize on behalf of the Board.  The Board may also delegate contracts/grants for greater amounts to the Superintendent at their discretion.

This bill comes to the House Floor under the Modified Structured Rule.
