This bill creates Caylee Anthony's Law. It requires parents, guardians, or other persons supervising or in charge of children under 13 to report children missing to law enforcement if an 18 hour period has occurred without verification of the child's whereabouts. Failure to do so constitutes the offense of failure to report a missing child. It further requires parents, guardians, or other persons supervising or in charge of children to report the death of a child under 16 to law enforcement, coroner or medical examiner within a 12 hour period of finding the body or when the death occurs. Caretakers who willfully and knowingly fail to comply with this requirement are guilty of a felony. |
