Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SUMMARY:  LC 33 4814  (See also SB 17)
  • Provides that a private college or university previously accredited by SACS within the last 11 years and which is currently working to retain accreditation shall be deemed an approved school for the purposes of tuition equalization grants.
  • Provides that in cases where a Georgia high school has lost SACS accreditation, if such high school was accredited by another accrediting organization between July 1, 2013-June 30, 2015, the school will be considered an eligible school for HOPE scholarship purposes.

EFFECTIVE DATE:  Upon approval by the General Assembly and Governor.
