SUMMARY: LC 33 5398  The Work Based Learning Act  (Identical to HB 766)

The Department of Education must include certain criteria in the programs.

Local work based learning coordinators shall meet defined requirements:

  • Be certified by the Professional Standards Commission (PSC) in a career, technical, or agricultural education field or have the work based learning endorsement from the PSC and complete training approved by the Department of Education
  • Be unencumbered from all other duties during the on-site visits to a student in a work based learning placement and
  • Be assigned a manageable workload, as defined by the Department of Education

Students enrolled in such a program may be eligible to earn dual credit upon completing it.

EFFECTIVE DATE:

July 1, 2014 if approved by the Governor or becomes law without his approval.
