SUMMARY:  LC 36 2514  Establishes requirements for utilizing Braille in the instruction of blind students.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • in developing the IEP for a blind student, provision shall be made for instruction in Braille
  • textbook publishers must furnish an electronic version of instructional materials in National Instructional Materials Accessibility
  • after July 1, 2015, teachers of the blind must have completed a course in the teaching of Braille

EFFECTIVE DATE:  Upon approval of the General Assembly and signature by the Governor.
