SUMMARY: This bill would amend Part 1 of Article 3 of Chapter 11 of Title 16 to make it illegal to “capture images of persons or property” without first obtaining a search warrant. Security cameras with a “fixed field” would still be allowed. Persons giving permission and booking photos would be exempt, as would cameras mounted in police vehicles.
NOTE: This bill, if it becomes law, could greatly limit current disciplinary investigations and disciplinary hearings of students who break either codes of conduct or state or federal laws. |
