SUMMARY:  This bill would amend Parts 5 and 7 of Article I of Chapter 11 of Title 15 to prohibit the detention of a child on weapons charges prior to a hearing in court.  It removes carrying or possession of a weapon by a child 13 to 17 as a felony unless it is a second adjudication of delinquency or involves weapon with an assault, involves a firearm or a dangerous weapon or machine gun.  It removes mandatory action as a result of violation of the law.
