SUMMARY:

            This resolution calls for participation in a national effort to simplify sales tax collection, especially in Internet sales to regain lost revenue.

REQUIREMENTS:

• The Joint Study Committee would include:
  • Four members of the House, appointed by the Speaker
  • Four members of the Senate, appointed by the President of the Senate
  • Co-chairs, one appointed by Speaker; one appointed by President of the Senate
• Representatives from GA would participate in interstate discussions on a simplified tax system
• A report with suggestions for proposed legislation, if any, would be due on or before December
