03.18.2021 The House Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee gave this bill a favorable report as amended. The amendment makes the effective date of new residential building codes no earlier than 5 years but no later than 6 years and for commercial building codes no earlier than 2 years but no later than 3 years from adoption of the last updates. 03.16.2021 The House Labor, Commerce and Industry Business and Commerce subcommittee gave this bill a favorable report as amended. The amendment requires residential and commercial codes be implemented no later than 7 years and 4 years from the previously-adopted codes. Summary of the bill as introduced: Extends the SC Building Codes Council residential and commercial code adoption process for six years from the date of implementation. |
