| I have resided in Broward County since 2007. In 2020, I was fortunate to be elected as a citywide Oakland Park commissioner and was sworn in as mayor in 2023. My term ends in November 2024.

During my time as mayor and commissioner, I have worked tirelessly to be a voice for residents. I have led initiatives on affordable housing and community wellness. My values in office are anchored in neighborhood integrity, smart growth, environmental sustainability, and diversity.

Originally from Maryland, I earned graduate degrees from University of Maryland and Syracuse University. Currently, I serve as Director of Doctoral Studies and Professor of Social Work at Barry University. As a licensed social worker, I have worked with clients who have needs in mental health, child welfare, oncology, LGBTQ, homelessness, and geriatric care systems.
I will bring my experience with clients to craft sound mental health policy as State Representative in House District 98!
Some of my volunteer work includes serving as Past President of the National Association of Social Workers-Florida Chapter and helping the Broward Guardian ad Litem Program, the Broward Partnership for Homeless, and the Oakland Park Kiwanis Club. I currently represent Oakland Park in the Broward League of Cities and Florida League of Cities.
