| Dr. Anissa Monique Jones, DC, is a Macon native and Former Vice Chair of the MWA Board, representing the citizens of District 1. In the summer of 2018, Dr. Jones won the General Election for the District 1 seat of the Macon Water Authority.
Dr. Jones was sworn into office on Jan. 3, 2019. Upon taking office, her fellow MWA board members appointed her to chair the authority's Personnel Committee and serve on the Board of Directors for Macon Soils, the Macon Water Alliance, the Engineering Committee, Pension and Trustee, and Finance Committee.
Professionally, Dr. Jones is the first African-American Chiropractor in Macon, Georgia, and has been practicing locally for more than 24 years. She received her B.S. in Biology from Fort Valley State University in 1994 and then continued on her path to a Doctor of Chiropractic from Life University in 1998. In addition, she also graduated with an MBA from Wesleyan College in 2005.
Dr. Jones was awarded the 2005 Heritage Registry of Who's Who and the Foxington Registry of Who's Who Executives and Business Professionals. In 2013, she was given the distinct honor of becoming the first African-American and the first female to be the President of the Georgia Chiropractic Association for District 14 in 2017.
Dr. Jones is a Director for the Georgia Chiropractic Association. She is a distinguished 32-year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, a 2004 alumnus of Leadership Macon and a 2018 Middle Georgia Regional Champion. Dr. Jones is the Past President of the Main Street Macon Board which is committed to the economic development and revitalization of the Central Business District of Downtown Macon, GA. Because Dr. Jones is an accomplished businesswoman with proven business acumen, she has been appointed to several boards in Macon-Bibb County including NewTown Macon, the NewTown Loans Board, Rosa Jackson Advisory Board, Northeast High School Advisory Board and others. She is an Advocate with Citizen Advocacy, and serves as a member of the Sisterhood organization that promotes HIV/Aids awareness and testing in Middle GA. Dr. Jones sponsors several adolescent and teen sports teams, providing uniforms and funding. She also has a non-profit, Lois Taylor Institute of Excellence, that is geared to empower students ages 8-18 to pursue careers in the areas of IT, real estate development, and business ownership. Dr. Jones annually hosts a Christmas food and toy drive through her non-profit that feeds over 1500 people each year.
Dr. Jones wants to continue working with local leaders to improve infrastructure, support public safety, and spur economic development that will create more career opportunities, especially for youth. She is honored and proud to serve Macon-Bibb and Houston County and make Georgia a better place to live for everyone. |
