| Matt served his country between 1991 and 1998 as a paratrooper and in the 10th Special Forces Group. He is a decorated combat veteran who was awarded the Army Commendation Medal after 5 years in Germany and Bosnia.
After earning his degree in Business Management, the events of 9/11 drove Matt to once again answer the call to serve by working for multiple Federal Agencies until 2011. He and his wife, Michele, operate a rental business with homes in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. They recently resized their business so Matt could turn his complete attention to serving his beloved home state of South Carolina, first in the State House of Representatives and now in the State Senate.
