Bio

Lupe Diaz grew up around the mining industry and on a small quarter and appaloosa horse ranch in Bisbee AZ. The mine provided their family a good life and they were able to afford the horse stables. He went to work at Fort Huachuca on a Worker Trainee program, where he learned building maintenance before eventually making his way up to contract compliance officer. During his time at Fort Huachuca, he was saved and gained an intense interest in Biblical Theology and the Christian life. Eventually, when the time came for him to take a different job within civil service, he chose instead to pursue a calling as a full-time pastor. In 1988 he received a call to pastor a small rural church in Benson, AZ. Today, the church has grown considerably and he is still the lead pastor at Grace Chapel Benson. In 1998 they opened Grace Christian Academy and Pastor Diaz still serves as the administrator of the academy. God called him to reach out to his community where he served as President to the Benson /San Pedro Valley Chamber of Commerce for two terms (4 years), and four years as a City Councilman. Lupe Diaz now currently serves as your AZ House Representative for District 19 (former LD 14). he was sworn in and took the Oath of Office on November 17, 2020. His service as the Chaplain to the Legislative District 14 for over 10 years helped with his decision to take this seat. Hearing the Legislative reports, the stump speeches and what the constituents were concerned about, month after month for ten years, he was familiar with the issues. And while serving on the City Council he was familiar with legislation. It was in August 2020 that Representative Becky Nutt came to Diaz and asked him personally if he would consider replacing her at the House as Representative. After much prayer, consulting with his family, church, council members, and the organizations he serves, he decided to step into her seat. After serving as Pastor of a church, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Council Member and now a State Legislator, I am honored to serve you in the House of Representative for District 19.
