Bio

David's lifetime of service is defined by fighting for Equity of Opportunities. Whether he was helping Katrina evacuees resettle, creating educational exchanges and economic opportunities in his work at the City of Houston Mayor's Office of International Affairs and Development, fighting for improved care and rehabilitation for service members and veterans suffering from spinal cord injuries, or advocating and lobbying for veterans and those with disabilities at the Colorado State Capitol; his servant leadership has been and is founded in fighting for that Equity of Opportunities for all. David's story is one that has shaped him to be a champion for all Coloradans. Shortly after graduating from college he worked to resettle evacuees from hurricane Katrina with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. That experience inspired him to continue serving his country to the best of his ability. He found his opportunity to further his service when he was selected to train as a helicopter pilot in the United States Army. After Warrant Officer training and flight school, David flew the Kiowa Warrior helicopter in service to his country. He narrowly survived a crash that left him paralyzed from the waist down, but with the help of friends, family, and the amazing team at Craig Hospital he was able to recover and find ways to serve his community once again. His drive to serve others did not end with catastrophic crash that left him injured, he has continued to advocate for his community, veterans, and more at the state Capitol and beyond. In 2022, David will keep taking that service to the Colorado House of Representatives.
