Sam Garrison resides in Fleming Island, Florida. He is an attorney married to Gayle Simpson Garrison, and they have two children, Mary Beth and Jane.
Born on November 13, 1976, in Peoria, Illinois, Garrison attended Samford University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations in 1998. He then earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2001. Afterward, he moved to Florida in 2001. He is affiliated with the Anglican faith and enjoys American history, music, reading, and running in his leisure time.
Garrison was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2020 and has been re-elected subsequently.
In addition to his legislative service, Garrison has a distinguished career in public service. He worked as an Assistant State Attorney in the 4th Judicial Circuit from 2001 to 2011.
Garrison has also served on several community boards and committees, including the Young Life Florida Regional Board (2020-present), the JDRF North Florida Chapter Board of Directors (2018-2020), and the St. Johns River State College Board of Trustees, where he was Chairman from 2018 to 2020. He has been on the Jacksonville Area Legal Aid Board of Directors (2015-2017), Quigley House Board of Directors (2011-2014), and the Orange Park Medical Center Board of Trustees (2007-2009). He also served as Chairman of the Clay County Task Force on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence from 2005 to 2007.
Garrison's professional accomplishments include being Board Certified in Criminal Trial Law by The Florida Bar from 2013 to 2018. He is a member of the Leadership Jacksonville Class of 2016 and served as President of the Clay County Bar Association from 2015 to 2016. He also served as a Faculty Member at the National College of District Attorneys' National Advocacy Center in 2007. In addition, Garrison received the Judicial Victim Advocate Award from the Mayor's Victim Assistance Advisory Council in 2006 and was named Outstanding New Felony Prosecutor by the 4th Judicial Circuit in 2003. |
