Jason W. B. Pizzo was elected to the Senate in 2018 and has been reelected subsequently.
He previously served as an Assistant State Attorney in the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office and was a member of the North Miami Beach Public Utilities Commission. He was also appointed to the Criminal Punishment Code Task Force and the Florida Commission on Access to Civil Justice by the Senate.
His honors and awards include the Florida League of Cities Legislative Appreciation Award in 2019 and 2021, the Florida Fraternal Order of Police Legislator of the Year in 2021, and the Jewish Community Services of South Florida Leadership Award in 2021. He was named Legislative Champion by Big Brothers/Big Sisters in 2020 and received the Defender of Home Rule award from the Florida League of Cities in 2020. Other recognitions include the SAVE Champion of Equality Award, the FAIR Legislative Appreciation Award, and the Miami-Dade Democratic Party Legislator of the Year in 2019. He was honored as a Housing Justice Warrior by the Florida Housing Justice Alliance in 2019 and received the MADD Prosecution Award of Honor in 2015.
He is a member of the Florida Bar and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. His affiliations include Kiwanis of Northeast Miami-Dade, Aventura Marketing Council, North Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, and Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.
An attorney by profession, he is married to April Pizzo of Phillipsburg, New Jersey, and has two children, Jack and Julian.
He earned a B.A. from New York University in 1999, an M.S. from Columbia University in 2007, and a J.D. from the University of Miami in 2010.
Born in Somerville, New Jersey, he moved to Florida in 2007. He is Roman Catholic. |
