Representative Robert Dickey is currently serving his sixth term in the Georgia House of Representatives for District 140, which covers Crawford County and parts of Bibb, Houston, Monroe and Peach counties. Rep. Dickey serves as the chairman of House Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee and is a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittees on Economic Development and Education (K-12). He also serves on the Banks and Banking, Energy, Utilities, and Telecommunications, Higher Education, Natural Resources and Environment and Ways and Means committees. Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) also appointed Rep. Dickey to serve on the Agricultural Exposition Authority Overview Committee and the Agricultural Education Advisory Commission. A fourth generation peach and timber grower, Rep. Dickey, along with his wife and son, owns Dickey Farms, Inc., which was started by his great-grandfather in 1897. He is very active in the agriculture industry serving as past president of the Georgia Peach Council. He has also served as president and treasurer of the National Peach Council, member of the Georgia Commodity Commission for Peaches and the Georgia Agribusiness Council, as well as past president and current board member of the Crawford County Farm Bureau. Rep. Dickey was also named Georgia 2019 Farmer of the Year. Rep. Dickey was a founding board member for the Georgia Agri-Leaders Forum, an agricultural leadership course that trained individuals in the agriculture and agribusiness industry. He believes in educating others in leadership who are interested in the agriculture industry. He and his wife are graduates of Leadership Georgia. Rep. Dickey served on the Governor's Agricultural Advisory Board from 2002- 2010. In 1994, Rep. Dickey was elected to the Flint Energies Board of Directors, where he served as vice chair until he was elected to the House. He was also a founding member of the Crawford County Chamber of Commerce. He has been active in economic development for this area and served on the Crawford County Industrial Authority for 20 years. He is also a member of the Middle Ocmulgee Regional Water Planning Council. Rep. Dickey is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Truist Bank of Middle Georgia. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Georgia and his MBA from Georgia College and State University. Rep. Dickey and his wife, Cynde, have been married for more than 40 years and have two adult children and one granddaughter. They are active members of Musella Baptist Church, where Mr. Dickey is a Deacon and chair of the Finance Committee. |
