| Anne Allen Westbrook, a Savannah native and longtime resident of House District 163, is a graduate of Savannah Christian Preparatory School. While in high school, she was an All-City basketball player and played AAU basketball for legendary Beach High School girls basketball coach Ronald Booker.
Anne Allen earned her B.A. in Political Science from Hollins College, with departmental honors. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from University of Georgia School of Law, where she competed on the National Moot Court Team with teammates Jennifer Auer Jordan, now a State Senator for Senate District 6, and Charles J. Bethel, now a Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia.
Anne Allen has been a practicing attorney since 2001, focusing primarily on divorce, custody, and other issues facing families.
Anne Allen became a volunteer for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America in 2013. She served as the Local Group Lead for Savannah and the State Legislative Lead for the Georgia chapter. As a volunteer leader, she worked on defeating dangerous gun bills in the Georgia General Assembly, educating gun owners about the importance of safe firearm storage, and, in September 2019, worked with the City of Savannah to unanimously pass a gun violence prevention resolution, the first of its kind to pass in Georgia.
Anne Allen is a longtime member of Asbury Memorial Church. In the wake of the 2015 church shooting at Mother Emanuel AME in Charleston, South Carolina, she helped form Asbury's "Ribbons for a Reason" ministry, which remembers the lives of Savannahians lost to gun violence with the public display of orange ribbons and urges people of faith to pray and work for solutions to Savannah's gun violence crisis.
Anne Allen also serves as a Cultural Affairs Commissioner for the City of Savannah, which supports the many arts organizations that make up the cultural fabric of Savannah.
Anne Allen and her husband Todd Baiad, also a lawyer, live in midtown Savannah with their three boys. |
