Representative Clay Pirkle was raised on the family farm in Sycamore, Georgia, where he learned the value of hard work, respect and integrity. While pursuing his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Clay worked on campus during the day and at the UPS Distribution Center at night. Later, while working on his MBA in Accounting and Finance at the University of Georgia in Athens, he worked as a teaching assistant in the economics department and in the soybean lab. Presently, Rep. Pirkle works as a farmer at Pirkle Farms where the motto is "Christianity is our business; we farm to pay the expenses." He has also held positions as an economist with the US government, a commercial banker at a local bank and an economics instructor at Darton College. Rep. Pirkle proudly represents the citizens of House District 155. He was elected into the Georgia House of Representative in July of 2015 and was sworn in on August 21, 2015. Rep. Pirkle is a member of the following standing House committees- Agriculture & Consumer Affairs; Appropriations; Banks & Banking; Higher Educations; Motor Vehicles; Science & Technology; and State Properties. Clay has been married to his childhood sweetheart, Sharon, for over 30 years. They have three wonderful children, Andrew, DeAnna and Nathan. Clay is a deacon and the treasurer at his home church, has taught Sunday school for over 20 years and is president of the missions organization, "Less of Me More of You". He also serves as the director of the Scott Dawson Evangelistic Association based in Birmingham, AL. |
