John Corbett is a lifelong resident of Echols Co (52 years). He is a graduate of Echols Co. High School (1980), as well as Valdosta Technical College (1983) and Valdosta State University (1995). He and his wife Rebecca, have been married for 29 years, and have one daughter and son-in-law, Audrey Corbett Hughes and Jeffery Hughes and one granddaughter, Kenzie Anne Hughes, all living in Echols Co. He was employed with the paper mill in Clyattville, GA as an electrician for 17 years (1984- 1999) and then joined his brothers in Corbett Electric and Construction Co. for the past 13 years. He is also a timber farmer. He is a member and deacon at Sardis Baptist Church, along with being the Church Clerk/Treasurer and a Sunday School Teacher. He is also a member of the Echols Co. Lions Club. He has been a member of the Echols Co. Board of Education for the past 12 years and has been Vice-Chairman for the past 8 years. He is an avid hunter and fisherman and is a member of the NRA. He coached girl's softball and fastpitch softball for many years at the Boys and Girls club as well as being a community coach for Echols Co. High School girls fastpitch team. |
