Bio

Samuel L. Watson was raised on his family farm just south of Moultrie, GA. Like many kids that grow up on the farm, agriculture became the foundation of Sam's identity and where he learned the value of faith and family, hard work, honesty, ingenuity, and common sense. Graduating from Colquitt County High School, Sam earned an Associates degree from ABAC and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia majoring in Agriculture Education. He met his wife Emily at UGA and after they were married, they moved back to the family farm where they started their own young family. Sam has spent his career in farming and agribusiness. In 2007, Sam helped to create Chill C Farms and by 2013, just after being elected as State Representative, he started running the business full-time as Managing Partner. With Georgia's population becoming more centered in urban areas, the influence that South Georgia once had in our state government is dwindling. As State Representative, Sam made sure that we, as Southwest Georgia citizens, had a seat at the table. As our State Senator, he'll continue that fight. He's running to protect our economy, which is based in agriculture, and to provide a better future for the next generations. Sam and Emily are blessed with four daughters who they are raising to continue the family farming traditions. Sam is a graduate of Leadership Georgia, Leadership Colquitt, and the Georgia Agri-Leaders Forum. He serves on the Colquitt County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, as a member of the Colquitt County Cattlemen's Association and the Colquitt County Young Farmers. He is past-President of the UGA Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity Alumni Board, member of the Georgia Agribusiness Council and the Georgia Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association. The Watson's are members of Moultrie First Baptist Church where they are active in the children's ministry and Sam serves as a Deacon.
