Lee Anderson, a Republican, was first elected in 2016 to serve Senate District 24, which includes Elbert, Greene, Hart, Lincoln, Oglethorpe, and Wilkes County as well as most of Columbia County. In the Senate, Sen. Anderson serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and the Environment and the Vice Chairman of the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee. He serves as a member of the Appropriations and Rules committees and the Appropriation Subcommittees for Agriculture and Natural Resources and Government Operations. Sen. Anderson has a long history of serving his community. He formerly served in the State House of Representatives from 2009 until 2012. After Sen. Anderson left the State House in 2012, he was appointed by Governor Deal to serve on the Board of Corrections. He served as Chair of the State Young Farmers and was on the Columbia County Board of Education and the Columbia County Board of Commissioners. He now serves as a Board Member of the Columbia County Farm Bureau. Sen. Anderson is a member of the Georgia Cattlemen's Association and the NRA and supports numerous ministries that help those affected by addiction. After attending Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Sen. Anderson returned to his native County of Columbia to farm. A small businessman and farmer, Lee Anderson operates a farm on the same land his family has farmed since the early 1900s. He is a native of Columbia County. Senator Anderson is married to Dr. Donna Anderson, a retired educator and principal. They are the proud parents of two children, Ben and Katie. Katie and her husband Cory are parents to Aaron, Annaleigh and recently welcomed a daughter Allison. The Andersons are members of Abilene Baptist Church.
