Ross Wilburn is serving his third term as State Representative in House District 50, which includes north-central and western Ames.
Wilburn has dedicated his life to service, formerly serving as a social worker advocating for children, youth, families, and justice issues. Upon graduating high school, Wilburn joined the Iowa Army National Guard to serve his country. Representative Wilburn previously served as a diversity officer and associate director for community economic development at Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
Additionally, Wilburn served for twelve years as a city council member and in 2006 became the first African American mayor of Iowa City. He served as the Iowa Democratic Party State Party Chairperson from 2021-2022. |
