Timi Brown-Powers is serving her fifth term in the Iowa House of Representatives. She is the Ranking Member of the Appropriations Committee, and also serves on the Health and Human Services, Veterans Affairs, and Natural Resources Committees.
Growing up and graduating from high school in Des Moines, Timi moved to the Cedar Valley to attend the University of Northern Iowa. After graduating from UNI, she settled in Waterloo and has spent the past 35+ years working at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare/Mercy One as an outpatient therapist. Whether working in the legislature or the hospital, Timi focuses on bettering the lives of everyday Iowans.
Timi is the proud mother of Timothy and his wife Hana, and stepmother to Jake and his wife Hailey; she is also the proud grandmother of Sean and Margot. For the past 11 years, Timi has been married to Tim Powers, a Navy veteran and retired Waterloo firefighter. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, traveling the country with her husband in their RV, and serving her community through various boards and organizations. |
