Tom Gerhold is serving his first term in the Iowa House. Tom grew up on his family's farm near Atkins where at a young age he was taught the value of a dollar and a hard days work. He graduated from Benton Community High School and earned a two-year degree from Kirkwood Community College. Tom works as a Research Associate in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Tom is an Elder at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Atkins. He enjoys participating in RAGBRAI every summer. He and his wife, Julia have been married for 12 years. In the House, Tom will work to strengthen Iowa's families and the economy so the state can be better for our children and grandchildren. He plans to accomplish this by allowing people to keep more of what they earn in their own pockets and providing our children the skills they need with a world-class education. |
