A lifelong Iowan, Iowa Senate Majority Leader Jack Whitver grew up in Grinnell and graduated from Iowa State University. While at Iowa State he was a three-year starter as wide receiver for the Iowa State Cyclones football team.
An entrepreneur at heart, Senator Whitver began his first small business immediately following graduation from Iowa State University and has grown that into various businesses. Both the values he was raised with and the experience of founding and growing a small business have shaped his political philosophy. In 2012, Senator Whitver graduated from Drake University Law School.
Senator Whitver was elected to the Iowa Senate in 2011 and has served in various leadership roles in the Iowa Senate. He was elected Iowa Senate President by his colleagues in November 2016 after the Republicans gained control of the Iowa Senate. In March 2018 Senator Whitver was elected to the position of Senate Majority Leader and was reelected to the Senate's top leadership position after the 2020 election and the 2022 election.
He and his wife Rachel have three children. |
