Eric Giddens is serving his first full term in the Iowa State Senate. He was first elected in a special election in March 2019 and then re-elected in 2020. He represents Senate District 38, which includes Cedar Falls, Hudson, Evansdale, Elk Run Heights, Gilbertville, Washburn, and LaPorte City in Black Hawk County, Traer and Dysart in Tama County, and Mount Auburn in Benton County.
Senator Giddens is an Assistant Democratic Leader.
Senator Giddens was previously a program manager at the Center for Energy and Environmental Education at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), where he led a program to help local governments increase environmental sustainability and resilience practices. He is a former member of the Cedar Falls Board of Education.
In the Cedar Falls/Waterloo community, Senator Giddens serves on the Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa Board of Directors and the Dry Run Creek Advisory Board. He is also an active participant in the Cedar Valley Economic Inclusion Network and the Resilient Iowa Communities Advisory Committee.
