Alaina Shonkwiler is a tireless connector, striving to build the best future for our community. She spends her time investing in and strengthening our district, leading a local nonprofit board of directors and supporting community initiatives. Alaina has a robust background in service to the city of Noblesville and other cities and towns across Indiana. Many people strive to make their community a better place to live, but Alaina has made it her career.
Alaina Shonkwiler is a passionate conservative voice. Our state needs leaders who can move the needle on critical issues like education funding, healthcare reform, investment in public safety, and fighting for Hoosier tax payers by placing our state firmly at the top in Economic Development. Alaina is the best equipped to lead IN-29 for the future of Indiana.
Currently a Manager in Government Advisory with Katz, Sapper & Miller, and previously the Director of Community and Economic Development for the Veridus Group, Alaina collaborates with local leaders and communities across the state to address challenges with focused development. She previously served as the District Director for Congresswoman Victoria Spartz for Indiana's 5th Congressional District. Prior to that, Alaina equipped high school students as the Workforce Development Coordinator for Noblesville Schools facilitating work-based learning, career pathway partnerships, and internship opportunities throughout central Indiana. Alaina previously served as the Assistant Director of Economic Development for the City of Noblesville, and Program Coordinator for the Noblesville Chamber of Commerce.
A 2001 graduate of Noblesville High School, Alaina has a bachelor's degree from Indiana University Bloomington in Public Affairs Management, a minor in Nonprofit Management and certificate in American Humanics. She is a 2016 graduate of the Oklahoma University Economic Development Institute and a 2013 graduate of Ball State University's Economic Development and Community Development courses.
Alaina is currently pursuing her master's degree in Organizational Leadership in Public Administration as well as an Economic Development Finance Professional certification.
Her husband of 17 years, Jason Shonkwiler, is a Sergeant with the Noblesville Police Department, currently serving as the School Resource Officer at Noblesville High School. Jason and Alaina have two children, Hannah (16) and Kyle (13), who attend Noblesville Schools, and two beagles- Eve and Tracker.
